Pigment & Tattoo Removal
Pigmentation reduction and removal involves a combination approach. We often stress on the fact about proper and regular usage of ‘sunscreen’, which plays an integral part in the management.
Following are modalities for treating pigmentation:
Medical Management
De-pigmenting agents, that are dermatologist prescribed, based on the type and contributing factors, often remains the first step in managing pigmentation. These include topical applications and sometimes oral medicines. They by themselves take a longer time to produce desired results.
Microdermabrasion
Works well for mild pigmentation.
Anti-pigment peels
At our clinic we have seen appreciable results with our anti-pigment peels combined with microdermabrasion. These work up-to the mid-dermal levels and act on the pigmentation.
Lasers
Either for a spot pigmentation (commonly seen post acne) or for an uneven pigment distribution, lasers have raised the bar when it comes to pigment reduction and at our clinic we use it on a routine basis.
Q switched laser is the method of choice for treating or rather removing an unwanted tattoo. The laser energy disperses/breaks the pigment in the tattoo, which is then eaten up by the body’s own cells, thereby leading to disappearance of the tattoo over time.
*The number of sessions can vary according to every individual and according to the procedure chosen.
We at Skeptre, always treat our patients based on the cause and the duration of their pigmentation. Contrary to popular beliefs, pigment spots do not fade away by themselves; Getting them treated with a dermatologist is essential;
