Anti-Acne & Acne Scar

For the Acne

Medical Management

Managing acne with topical applications and/or oral medicines (eg:isotretinoin) if required form a corner stone of acne treatment. Yes, you read that right! Though in most cases they might alone not give a drastic relief, they however play a crucial role.

Comedonal Extraction

Comedones or Grade I acne are generally stubborn and sometimes topical application refuses to act on it. Along with peels, comedones when extracted by a small instrument, fades away faster.

Chemical Peels

A definite add on! Peels, when chosen appropriately, depending on the grade and severity of acne works really well and brings about a faster reduction in the acne. Improvement in the skin texture, complexion and as well as lightening of the post acne spots can also be noticed.

Blue Light Therapy

A type of low level laser light therapy, blue light has shown to reduce the Propionibacterium acnes count, thereby reducing the number of acne and is an adjuvant treatment.

Carbon Peel

It is a revolutionary laser treatment that is completely painless with minimal-to-zero downtime. It is highly beneficial for people with oily skin, blackheads, enlarged pores, dull skin, and acne on the face or body. It involves applying a layer of carbon over the face, which penetrates deep into the pores. The laser blasts off the carbon and while doing so gets rid of the acne, reduces oil production and brings a glow.

For the Scars

TCA CROSS

One of the tried and tested methods, it consists of using a high concentration of Tricholoroacetic acid (TCA) for Chemical Reconstruction of Skin Scars (CROSS). The drawback is the downtime, which consists of scab formation (Day 1- day 5), after which the scabs fall off. The skin then begins to normalize. The collagen re-modelling happens over weeks, thereby working on the scars.

Subcision

Lifting and releasing the scars from the surrounding structures that tether it down using a needle.

Microdermabrasion and/or Chemical Peeling

Combining these techniques help in very superficial scars and when done as add on to other forms of acne scar revision methods, it provides an improved outcome.

Dermaroller

A hand-held device containing multiple tiny thin needles, that when applied on the skin, promotes new collagen formation and hence helping in revising the scars.

Fractional Laser Resurfacing

Laser has revolutionised the treatment of scar revision. The method uses laser energy that creates micro wounds that encourage re-modelling of scars.

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy (PRP)

The latest kid on the block, PRP, with many of its uses, has also found its way in scar management. Either by itself or in combination with laser/dermaroller, it is shown to give appreciable results.

Microneedling Radiofrequency (MNRF)

Predominantly used as an anti-ageing therapy. By creating micro channels, that promotes collagen and using radiofrequency that causes skin tightening, with a very minimal downtime, MNRF has shown good results in scar revision.

Fillers

Using hyaluronic acid as a filling material to lift the scar base.
